Meet Katie Unterreiner, MSW, LCSW

Katie Unterreiner, MSW, LCSW

I am a practicing Holistic therapist who specializes in providing individual therapy to Therapists/Healers and Clinical supervision in washington and oregon.

I graduated from Portland State University with a Masters in Social Work (MSW) and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). After graduation, I worked at Options Counseling for ten years providing in-home counseling to children and families. I worked for four years at Counseling West Seattle. I now have my own practice, providing therapy and clinical supervision as an independent therapist.

I Specialize in:

  • Providing a unique approach to observing and bringing in healing emotions

  • Providing holistic counseling for women who are helpers and healers

  • Counseling women and healers experiencing anxiety, stress or PTSD

  • Training for social workers interested in learning about play and expressive arts therapy

  • Mother and daughter therapy focusing on nurturing trust and shared meaning

  • Steps for Entrepreneurs on creating a successful business while protecting your energy and thriving inside and outside of the work environment

  • Supervision and business coaching for therapists looking to broaden their therapeutic approach

  • Teach proven methods to protect therapists from vicarious trauma, vicarious stress and burnout

Through my work with my clients, and informed by the critical research of other leaders in the field, I have developed a series of charts and visual tools to use in my therapy with children. This toolkit became the foundation for my first book, Motivate, which is written with the goal of helping all children gain emotional and behavioral skills. I have refined and adapted this content into the Sensory Routines program and other storytelling visuals, available for download on this site.

I support entrepreneurs and healers experiencing overwhelm and anxiety make a slight shift in awareness that creates a big difference in problem solving. This shift helps challenge assumptions about a hurt, allowing us to look at pain from a different angle. Often fear influences how we respond to our personal life and also parallels in our work. Spring is a nice moment to set intention on what you want and what you would like to remove from your life.
